Clydebank now have a slim chance of gaining promotion as the Bankies need to rely on other results going their way.  St Anthony's repeated the scoreline at Glenhead Park those many months ago by beating the Bankies 3-1 and once again, the points were deserved.  The ref was a joke but it wasn't his fault Clydebank conceded two sloppy goals which were well finished by the Ants goalscorers.

St Anthony's took the lead through a deflected strike from Mark McCuish that left McNab rooted, and Clydebank had several chances to equalise through a Scobie header which was wonderfully saved, and then Scobie again having a chance but his left-footed shot was again well stopped by the Ants keeper James Begs.  As it looked like both teams would go into the half with one goal seperating them the Ants tore apart the Bankies defence and a ball to the back post saw Joe Mulheron free to head past McNab to make it 2-0.  The half time scoreline unfortunately stood at:

ST ANTHONY'S 2-0 CLYDEBANK

The Bankies brought Des Kelly on for Gary Esdale at half-time but within 5 minutes the Ants were three up.  A ball back to McNab from the Bankies defence was poorly hit and as McNab rushed out to clear it, an Ants attacker charged it down and the ball broke to Mark McCuish who got his second goal of the evening with an accurate drive into the empty net from a good distance out.  After Maxwell went off for Readie and Fisher came on for Mitchell, Clydebank finally got a consolation through a Ryan Waddell free-kick which found Mick Fallen at the back post to power home a header to make it St Anthony's 3-1 Clydebank, after 80 minutes.

No other chances were made and the final score at McKenna Park on a sunny-but-chilly evening was:

ST ANTHONY'S 3-1 CLYDEBANK

Clydebank didn't create much from their midfield and that let them down, while the Ants passed it better, attacked better, finished better and deservedly won.  Simple as that.

I had a lot more in this report but as I was finishing it before I lost all the information.  Plus the attendance is my rough estimate, the Ants got 700 quid through the gate for the game.  So I put this short-report together instead.  BUT I'd like to take the chance now to thank Felix and James and Martin as well, of the Ants, for helping me get the Ants team after the game and Martin as well on the forum.  Really helpful and even though the game had just finished they made time for me in case I had any other things I needed to know, and they also knew who I was which was a pleasant surprise.  A good bunch of folk running things at the Ants, and the victory over us has guaranteed their own safety in this division so congratulations to St Anthony's for achieving that.  If not for a horrendous start to the season they could easily have been promotion contenders themselves, and have EARNED 6 points out of 6 against the Bankies this season (hard for me to say that but it's true, sadly).

If we don't go up this season then we can kick their arse next season!
