Drumchapel Amateurs 0-6 Clydebank
Clydebank demolished their landlords in what was a one-way match throughout. Since I was in London, the following information comes from the ever-knowledgeable Joe Kelly a.k.a. biggalsuperbankie.
Decided to attend Glenhead after all, on a bitterly cold day Clydebank destroyed Drumchapel Amateurs in a magnificent display of controlled footballwhich was a delight to watch for the first 45 minutes. Clydebank then dropped three or four gears before a final nail was hammered into the Drum.
Clydebank lined up as follows:
MEHIGAN
TRIALIST D.S.
SOUTAR
HARKINS
CRAWFORD
MCINTYRE
ALLISON
KELLY
WADDELL
READIE
TOLLAND
Substitutes
BRADY, HAILSTONES, SIMEON, WILSON AND MAXWELL
In 3 minutes a lovely ball was played across the face of the goalmouth by Ryan Waddell and the triallist hit a lovely volley which just shaved the crossbar. Five minutes later a lovely passing move by Clydebank seen Des Kelly play a lovely ball through to Del Readie who took the ball past the goalie and knocked it into the back of the net past the stranded defender on the line. Clydebank 1-0 Drumchapel Amateurs.
Ten minutes later Des Kelly had a great run on the left hand side dribbling past three defenders and rolled the ball ino the path of Ryan Waddell who buried the ball into the top right hand corner. Clydebank 2-0 Drumchapel Amateurs.
A minute later another five or six man move ended with Sinky Soutar knocking the ball into the path of Michael Tolland inside the box, who cooly drew the keeper and knocked the ball past him to put the Bankies three up. The referee then amazingly booked the Drumchapel Amateurs No6 for knocking the ball away, someone must have forgotten to tell him it was a friendly.
Ryan Waddell then tried his famous Brazilian bicycle kick but yet again was unseccessful, someone should really have a word with him about it, because he aint ever going to score one like that and he ain't very good at it either. Des Kelly who was showing up very well in midfield again worked his way down the left and knocked over a great ball which was nodded home by Del Readie in 33 minutes.
Clydebank 4-0 Drumchapel Amateurs.
Drumchapel then had a wee spell were the No9 brought out a good save from Mehigan and from a corner shortly afterwards their No 10 hit the outside of the post. Just here Des Kelly who had taken a knock was replaced by Paul Wilson. Paul Wilson then played a lovely one-two with Joe Roy and just knocked one past the post. Clydebank then had another fantastic passing phase involving John McIntyre and Ryan Waddell who set up Michael Tolland to hit another past the stranded goalie in 42 minutes to put the Bankies five up. Then in the next minute in a move that went the whole length of the field with everyone involved John Crawford broke free in the box, knocked the ball past the goalie but just the wrong side of the post.
Half time Clydebank 5-0 Drumchapel Amateurs
Clydebank almost scored in the first minute when a corner came over and the smallest man on the park, the Clydebank triallist had a header cleared off the line. After this Clydebank just went through the motions until 88 minutes when Mark Hailstones was played in by Simmy and knocked the ball easily past the goalie. Hailstones had been on all of five minutes.
A very good display today from the Bankies but a very very poor crowd which I would say would be around 160.
